Interstitial Lung Disease Multidisciplinary Clinic
Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine
Introduction
The interstitial lung disease MDT multidisciplinary outpatient clinic is staffed simultaneously by multiple experts from several specialties, including the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, and the Department of Radiology. This enables more accurate and timely diagnosis of diseases and the development of reasonable, specific diagnostic and treatment plans. Interstitial lung disease is a progressive disease in which the pulmonary interstitium is the primary site of involvement. Its causes are complex and involve multiple specialties, including respiratory medicine, rheumatology and immunology, radiology, and pathology, as well as thoracic surgery, allergy, and critical care medicine. In recent years, its incidence has shown a clear upward trend. The disease has a high incidence, progresses rapidly, and has a short average survival time. Acute exacerbations can accelerate disease progression and directly lead to patients’ deaths. Early detection, early diagnosis, early treatment, and prevention of acute exacerbations have become key to the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. The disease has an insidious onset, its clinical manifestations lack specificity, and its diagnosis and differential diagnosis are relatively complex. Effective treatment can effectively control disease progression and prolong survival.
