Severe Obesity Multidisciplinary Outpatient Clinic
Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine
Introduction
Obesity has become a global health challenge; among these patients, the number of people with severe obesity is growing rapidly, and their risk of complications has increased markedly, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, osteoarticular disorders and sleep apnea, which seriously endanger quality of life and increase the burden on medical care. The traditional single-department model of diagnosis and treatment can hardly meet patients' needs for comprehensive management, and there is an urgent need for a multidisciplinary joint clinic that integrates the departments of endocrinology, bariatric surgery and nutrition to provide individualized intervention plans. The Severe Obesity MDT Clinic aims, through multidisciplinary collaboration, to optimize the diagnosis and treatment process, achieve precise assessment and long-term management, and promote the standardization of the diagnosis and treatment of severe obesity, and it delivers significant clinical and social benefits.
