Radiotherapy
Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine
The Department of Radiation Oncology of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, was established in 1994. After nearly 30 years of effort and development, the department has achieved a number of accomplishments in discipline development. In particular, it has made substantial progress over the past 20 years in medical care, education, research, and talent development. It is now a standardized training base for radiation oncology in Zhejiang Province, a National Clinical Trial Center, a demonstration ward for standardized nutritional support therapy in radiotherapy, a demonstration ward for cancer pain management, and an authorized doctoral degree-granting discipline in radiation oncology at Zhejiang University. It has established close cooperative relationships with advanced medical centers abroad, including Mayo Clinic, Loma Linda University Medical Center in the United States, and Stanford University Medical Center.
The department is fully equipped with radiotherapy facilities and can provide a variety of radiotherapy techniques, including three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), and volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT). It can flexibly apply a range of advanced domestic and international technologies, including four-dimensional computed tomography (4D-CT), optical surface tracking, and respiratory gating, to achieve accurate target delineation, precise planning, and precise treatment. The department has developed distinctive clinical strengths in the precise radiotherapy of malignant tumors such as liver cancer, lung cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and brain tumors. It can also comprehensively apply chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and bioimmunotherapy to maximize the efficacy of tumor treatment.
For 30 years, the Department of Radiation Oncology at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital has upheld the philosophy of innovative development, followed and led trends in the development of radiation oncology, overcome challenges, weathered difficulties, continuously enriched treatment approaches, and consistently improved patient services, becoming a leading radiotherapy center in Zhejiang Province and throughout China.
Technical Advantages
The department possesses a variety of advanced domestic and international technologies, including four-dimensional computed tomography (4D-CT), optical surface tracking, and respiratory gating. It can provide patients with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT), and more precise stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).
