Gestational Diabetes Multidisciplinary Outpatient Clinic
Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine
Introduction
According to the latest statistical data for 2019 from the International Diabetes Federation, the number of people with gestational diabetes increased by 38 million compared with 2017. Besides increasing the risk of various complications during pregnancy, gestational diabetes also has profound metabolic effects on both mothers and fetuses, and the incidence of metabolism-related diseases increases substantially in both. To respond to the national policy promoting healthy births and healthy child-rearing, and to intervene actively in gestational diabetes at an early stage, the Department of Clinical Nutrition plans to collaborate with the Departments of Obstetrics and Endocrinology to establish a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic for diagnosis and treatment, dedicated to improving the prognosis of gestational diabetes.
