Introduction to the Endoscopy Center of Shuguang Hospital
The Endoscopy Center of Shuguang Hospital is divided between the East and West campuses, covering a total area of 2,200 m2. It includes gastrointestinal endoscopy examination and treatment rooms, VIP examination and treatment rooms, an ERCP room, and an endoscopic operating room. The East Campus has an endoscopy day ward with 10 endoscopy examination and treatment beds, staffed by dedicated medical personnel. It is used for observation after endoscopic treatment and for preparation during the peri-examination period for patients with limited mobility and elderly patients. Each bed in the anesthesia recovery area is equipped with an independent monitoring system to ensure the safety of postoperative recovery in patients under anesthesia. The Endoscopy Center is equipped with high-definition endoscopy systems and the latest digestive endoscopy equipment worldwide. It has an advanced endoscope cleaning and disinfection center, independent water-treatment facilities, and a central gas-supply center, ensuring that all endoscopes and accessories meet the applicable disinfection and sterilization requirements before use and safeguarding patient safety.
The Endoscopy Center has an independent billing window, allowing patients to complete subsequent payment procedures directly at the Endoscopy Center without having to travel back and forth between the outpatient billing window and the Endoscopy Center. The preoperative preparation and postoperative observation rooms are staffed by professional nurses, who ensure the safety and comfort of patient care while protecting patient privacy.
The Endoscopy Center has innovatively established a specialty endoscopy convenience clinic, open to all patients undergoing endoscopic examinations on the same day, providing medical services such as report analysis and medication guidance. Outpatient clinics for all senior physicians and experts are located in independent consulting rooms within the Endoscopy Center, providing professional diagnosis and treatment for difficult and complex diseases. Guided by the six-character principle of “Precision, Service, Innovation,” and in collaboration with the MDT team of the Department of Gastroenterology, the Center has improved a truly one-stop integrated Chinese and Western medicine endoscopic diagnosis and treatment process for digestive diseases. Based on the examination results, it provides every patient undergoing routine gastroscopy and colonoscopy with the most appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan. As a result, it received the title of “Most Beautiful Service Window” in the 2018 Shanghai Health and Family Planning System.
Under the leadership of Director Gong Biao, Director Cen Rong, and Director Pan Yamin, the Center vigorously develops a wide range of services, including gastrointestinal endoscopy-related examinations and treatments; routine gastroscopy and colonoscopy; magnifying endoscopy precision examinations; electronic chromoendoscopy precision examinations; treatment of esophageal and gastric varices; removal of foreign bodies from the digestive tract; digestive tract stent placement; placement of gastrointestinal nutrition tubes; emergency endoscopic hemostasis; gastrointestinal polypectomy; EMR; ESD; POME; ERCP-related examinations and treatments; adult and pediatric ERCP and complex ERCP (including domestic and international ERCP failures after liver transplantation); IDUS; Spyglass; pCLe; special endoscopy; enteroscopy; endoscopic ultrasonography and FNA; capsule endoscopy; and confocal endoscopy.
