The Obstetrics team at Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has combined the strengths of traditional Chinese medicine at Shuguang to create an entirely new Department of Obstetrics at Shuguang Hospital. It is a highly specialized clinical department integrating medical care, scientific research, and teaching. Our department includes obstetric wards, delivery rooms, an obstetrics outpatient clinic, a high-risk obstetrics outpatient clinic, a postpartum outpatient clinic, and more. It is staffed by a group of medical and technical professionals with extensive experience, a strong sense of responsibility, and high professional competence.

In terms of the department’s intangible strengths, the medical and nursing team is highly qualified and technically proficient. The team has extensive experience in managing pregnancy comorbidities such as hyperthyroidism and SLE, as well as pregnancy complications such as gestational hypothyroidism, gestational hypertension, and gestational diabetes, and provides individualized treatment plans. The success rate of emergency rescue for critically ill patients reaches 100%. The department provides modern maternal and infant healthcare services from preconception through the postpartum period, as well as diagnosis and treatment for various common and complex obstetric conditions.

In terms of hardware, the department has a pleasant environment, and the hospital has equipped Obstetrics with a range of advanced instruments: the central maternal-fetal monitoring system simultaneously connects the delivery room and the doctors’ office, enabling doctors, wherever they are, to keep abreast of the condition of the mother and fetus at any time; the delivery rooms are equipped with multifunctional delivery beds, neonatal resuscitation tables, fetal heart monitors, a resuscitation room with surgical capabilities, an integrated anesthesia and monitoring unit, and supporting facilities. The department is always prepared to provide treatment for acute, life-threatening, and critical conditions, safeguarding pregnant women, women in childbirth, and newborns.

The department also offers distinctive diagnostic and treatment services, including pregnancy-preservation treatment combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine, traditional health exercises during pregnancy, postpartum acupoint-based lactation initiation, and postpartum medicinal dietary conditioning. Patient satisfaction is high.
