Department of Anesthesiology

The Department of Anesthesiology is a first-level clinical department, and its scope of services includes clinical anesthesia, postoperative analgesia, emergency care and resuscitation of critically ill patients, painless gastrointestinal endoscopy, painless induced abortion, etc. It currently has 38 employees, including 31 anesthesiologists, with those holding intermediate or senior professional titles accounting for 87%; it also has 7 anesthesia nurses.

With the rapid development of surgery, the medical standards, talent pool, and hardware facilities of the Department of Anesthesiology have continuously improved and been upgraded; clinical care, teaching, scientific research, academic influence, and other areas have all achieved considerable development.

The volume of clinical anesthesia services has increased year by year, with an average annual growth rate of 9.5%; in 2019, the total number of anesthesia cases exceeded 45,000. In 2016, it received certification as one of the first national-level training bases for integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine anesthesia; in 2017, it held a training course in acupuncture anesthesia; for 5 consecutive years, it held the academic conference “Shuguang International Forum on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine,” receiving favorable reviews from the industry. In terms of scientific research, it obtained 20 projects at various levels, including 7 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and published 16 SCI papers and more than 30 papers in core journals. It also obtained 17 national patents and 1 Shanghai Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Advanced Talent Training Project. It holds a leading position in the field of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine anesthesia in China.
