Radiology and Imaging Department
【Department Establishment History】 The Department of Radiology was established in 1982. 【Department Honors】 It is a Vice-President Unit of the Radiology Physicians Branch of the Guangdong Medical Doctor Association and the Chair Unit of the Radiology Special Committee of the Shenzhen Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is also a Vice-Chair Unit of the Radiology Physicians Branch of the Shenzhen Medical Association and a Vice-President Unit of the Radiology Physicians Branch of the Shenzhen Medical Doctor Association. It has taught undergraduates of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine for more than ten years and has participated in the compilation of the fifth round of the national higher education (undergraduate) planning textbooks for traditional Chinese medicine education under the “15th Five-Year Plan” textbooks of the National Health Commission. Two members of staff have been awarded the honorable title of “Top Ten Outstanding Employees”; the department has repeatedly taken part in the annual meetings of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine for academic exchange, and many members have won honors in national, provincial and municipal teaching, difficult-case film-reading or skills competitions. 【Department Leadership】 Professor Li Jingsheng, Professor Zhu Zisheng and Professor Hu Yuanming successively served as administrative directors of the department and made great contributions to its development. Since 2023, Professor Lü Hanqing has served as director of the department. 【Research Areas】 In addition to providing accurate radiological imaging diagnosis for clinical practice, the department introduced magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) technology in 2018 and has completed more than 800 cases of non-invasive staging of liver fibrosis, becoming a member unit of the Chinese multicenter study on magnetic resonance elastography; in 2023, the Digital Imaging Center of the Department of Radiology was established, and in terms of research the department focuses on directions such as the “mechanism of acupuncture effects”, the “imaging phenotypes of cerebral small vessel disease” and multimodal brain functional neuroimaging. 【Department Operations】 The Department of Radiology is now divided into the Futian and Guangming campuses. The department currently has a team of 87 people with a sound talent echelon: 1 postdoctoral co-supervisor, 1 doctoral supervisor and 5 master's supervisors. It currently has 8 CT scanners, 4 MR scanners and 1 PET-CT scanner, including high-end imaging equipment such as the Philips Haoke 256-slice CT, the Siemens Force dual-source CT, the GE 750W 3.0T, the Siemens Prisma 3.0T MRI and the Siemens Vision 450 PET-CT, as well as digital gastrointestinal machines, mammography units and dual-panel DR systems. Business volume has grown steadily year by year, and the current annual total revenue reaches about 100 million yuan. With the support of flexible talent introduction under the construction of high-level hospitals in Shenzhen, the department has successively introduced the team of Professor Fang Jiliang from the Department of Radiology of Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, the team of Professor Feng Shiting from the Department of Radiology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and the team of Professor Jiang Lei from the Department of Nuclear Medicine of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, thereby enhancing the clinical and research level of the specialty. Over the past ten years, the department's research and teaching capabilities have developed rapidly; it has successively undertaken more than ten projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and provincial and municipal programs, with research funding exceeding 3 million yuan, and has published twenty to thirty SCI papers and several invention patents. In the future, with the Guangming campus as its fulcrum, the department will deepen original research combining multimodal imaging with traditional Chinese medicine, explore frontier technologies such as AI-assisted diagnosis and molecular imaging, and continue to empower the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine. 【Department Group Photo】
