Health Management Centre
The Health Management (Physical Examination) Center of Shenzhen Children's Hospital is affiliated with Shenzhen Children's Hospital and is located on the third floor of the Longhua Campus. It is the first professional institution in Guangdong Province formally approved by the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission and dedicated to providing health examination services for children. It officially began operations in November 2025.
The Center upholds the concept of “whole-life-cycle health care” and focuses on “one-stop” child health management. It provides continuous and systematic health management services covering all stages of growth for newborns, infants, preschool children, school-age children, and adolescents. The Center adopts child-friendly spatial design with the theme “Adventure in the Health Kingdom,” incorporating playful environmental decorations, a parent-child play area, and a mothers’ lounge. It has also innovatively designed the interactive “Little Warrior Challenge Game,” enabling children to complete health examinations in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere and effectively reducing anxiety about medical visits.
Scope of Services The Center serves children and adolescents aged 0 to 18 years and provides three major categories of physical examination services: (I) Standardized examination packages According to growth stage, these are divided into basic and comprehensive packages, covering seven stages: newborns (0–42 days), the 100-day stage, infancy (0–6 months and 6–12 months), early childhood (1–3 years), preschool age (4–6 years), school age (7–12 years), and adolescence (13–18 years), with separate options for boys and girls. (II) Specialized screening packages Specialized screening programs are available for common pediatric health problems, with separate options for boys and girls: short-stature screening, obesity screening, precocious-puberty screening, poor-physical-condition screening, allergy screening, and picky-eating/selective-eating or malnutrition screening. (III) Personalized examinations Parents may select examination items flexibly according to their child’s actual health needs and develop a personalized examination plan following a one-to-one assessment by a health consultation physician.
After the examination, dedicated staff assist with appointments for specialist outpatient services within the hospital. The Center also provides personalized follow-up services, including health consultation, nutritional guidance, growth and development monitoring, and chronic disease management, establishing closed-loop, full-cycle management from screening to intervention.
Distinctive Advantages (I) Guangdong Province’s first professional pediatric physical examination institution The Center is Guangdong Province’s first professional institution formally approved by the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission to provide health examination services specifically for children, filling a gap in the region’s professional pediatric physical examination services. (II) Child-friendly medical environment The Center uses “Adventure in the Health Kingdom” as its spatial theme and is equipped with a parent-child play area and a mothers’ lounge. Its original interactive “Little Warrior Challenge Game” transforms the tedious examination process into an enjoyable series of challenges, significantly relieving children’s nervousness and resistance toward medical visits. (III) AI intelligent examination-navigation system The AI intelligent examination-navigation system monitors queues in each examination room in real time and intelligently optimizes the examination process. Combined with guidance throughout the visit by professional medical staff, it saves approximately 60% of waiting time on average compared with traditional physical examinations, greatly improving efficiency and the medical experience. (IV) Multidisciplinary team of senior specialists The entire process is overseen by a multidisciplinary team of physicians with senior professional titles in internal medicine, surgery, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, dentistry, and other specialties, ensuring that examination services are professional, efficient, and safe. (V) Full-cycle health records and closed-loop management A dedicated electronic health record is established for every child to enable continuous tracking and management of growth and development data. Abnormal results receive dedicated follow-up and referral services, forming a full-cycle health management loop of “screening–assessment–intervention–follow-up.” (VI) One-stop integrated service system Multiple specialty consultation rooms and various examination areas are integrated into one site, enabling children’s health examinations to be completed in one stop without traveling between floors or campuses, greatly improving convenience.
Advanced Equipment The Center is equipped with advanced medical devices, including color Doppler ultrasound systems, electrocardiographs, capsule gastroscopes, body composition analyzers, hearing screening devices, and carbon-13 breath-test analyzers, comprehensively supporting health screening and assessment needs for children of all ages.
Expert Team The Center brings together senior physicians from internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dentistry, and other specialties at Shenzhen Children’s Hospital, all with extensive clinical experience in pediatric health management. Specialists with the rank of attending physician or above oversee the entire process. Professional health consultation physicians also provide one-to-one consultation and assessment, while an experienced nursing team offers guidance and accompaniment throughout, delivering professional, meticulous, and compassionate health management services to every child.
Talent Development and Continuing Education The Center actively supports the hospital’s talent-development strategy and emphasizes continuous learning and professional development. It regularly organizes continuing education and academic exchange activities for medical and nursing staff in pediatric health management, specialized pediatric diagnosis and treatment, health promotion, and related fields. Team members are encouraged to participate in domestic and international academic conferences and training programs related to pediatric health management, continuously improving the team’s overall professional capabilities. The Center also maintains close collaboration with the hospital’s clinical departments, promotes multidisciplinary joint teaching and personnel exchanges, and lays a solid foundation for building a professional pediatric health management workforce.

It will actively build a health-management big-data platform and biobank and conduct clinical and translational medical research. The Center has already launched multiple collaborative research projects to promote the translation of research achievements into pediatric health management services, striving to become a leading domestic and internationally aligned center of scientific and technological innovation in pediatric health management.
