Laboratory Department (including Blood Transfusion Department)

The Clinical Laboratory Department of Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital (Pulmonary Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University) was established in the 1960s and is a modern laboratory diagnostic institution integrating medical care, teaching, and scientific research. The department has 40 employees, including 8 PhD holders, 1 PhD student, 10 master’s degree holders, and 2 master’s students; 2 chief laboratory technologists, 4 deputy chief laboratory technologists, and 22 supervising laboratory technologists; 1 doctoral supervisor and 3 master’s supervisors.

In 2018, the Clinical Laboratory Department passed the CNAS “ISO15189” quality control system accreditation, and in 2020 it joined the National Fungal Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network. The Clinical Laboratory Department currently comprises the outpatient group, clinical laboratory testing group, biochemistry group, immunology group, routine bacteriology group, tuberculosis molecular group, and blood bank.

The Clinical Laboratory Department adheres to the hospital motto, “Excellence in medicine, esteem for ethics; pragmatism and innovation,” follows the work principles of “professionalized management and human-centered service,” and remains committed to providing patients and clinical professionals with accurate test reports and professional clinical laboratory consultation services.
