Poisoning Department (including Physical and Chemical Laboratory)
The Department of Poisoning of our hospital is one of the first national clinical key specialties for occupational diseases. It mainly consists of a physico-chemical laboratory, an occupational disease diagnosis group, an occupational disease hazard factor detection and evaluation group, and occupational health examinations. The diseases treated include occupational acute and chronic chemical poisoning, such as lead poisoning, mercury poisoning, benzene poisoning, gasoline poisoning, etc.; occupational respiratory system diseases, such as occupational asthma, occupational chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, etc.; and otorhinolaryngological and oral diseases, such as occupational noise-induced deafness. The department is equipped with first-class physico-chemical testing equipment in China and can conduct the detection of more than forty kinds of toxins in the body, meeting the needs of medical care, education, and research. Relying on the hospital’s comprehensive medical equipment, it is at the forefront nationwide in occupational disease diagnosis, treatment and emergency rescue, differential diagnosis, medical examination of the degree of disability caused by occupational diseases, and occupational health examinations.
As the treatment center for chemical poisoning emergencies in our city, our department undertakes on-site guidance and rescue work for chemical poisoning throughout the city. In recent years, it has successfully handled a series of major sudden mass chemical poisoning incidents, reaching a domestically leading level, and has undertaken medical support tasks for large-scale events such as the World Expo and the China International Import Expo.
Our department has strict management, supervision, and review mechanisms for occupational health examinations and occupational disease diagnosis procedures. The certificates it issues, such as the “Occupational Health Examination Results Report,” the “Shanghai Occupational Disease Diagnosis Certificate,” and the “Summary of Medical History for Appraisal of the Degree of Disability Caused by Occupational Diseases in Shanghai,” serve to legally protect the relevant lawful rights and interests of workers, occupational disease patients, and employing units, and provide high-quality technical services for occupational disease patients.
