Anaesthesiology

The Department of Anesthesiology at Shanghai International Medical Center (SIMC) comprises more than ten highly educated anesthesiologists with over ten years of clinical experience in tertiary Grade A hospitals. It is one of the few clinical departments in Shanghai capable of providing perioperative anesthesia management for patients of all ages.

The department follows an individualized approach to anesthesia diagnosis and treatment and has established a comprehensive perioperative management system covering preoperative assessment, intraoperative monitoring, postoperative analgesia, and the treatment of critically ill patients. Its pediatric anesthesia program is well established, completing, on average, more than 800 anesthesia procedures annually for young pediatric patients aged 0–6 years. It is also capable of undertaking surgical anesthesia for end-stage critically ill patients, providing a strong guarantee for the surgical treatment of high-risk critically ill patients.

Based on highly skilled clinical expertise and supported by comprehensive monitoring equipment, the department uses rigorously selected anesthetic agents with excellent safety profiles to minimize the risk of anesthesia-related complications and provide patients with safe and reliable anesthesia services.
