The Comprehensive Oncology Department of Shanghai International Medical Center is led by Professor Ding Gang, a leading medical professional in Shanghai, recipient of the 11th “Silver Snake Award” of the Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau, and academic leader of oncology, a key specialty of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission. Professor Ding leads a highly experienced professional clinical medical team comprising 65 full-time oncology-specialty medical and nursing personnel. The team currently has 20 physicians, including 1 doctoral supervisor, 1 master's supervisor, 2 chief physicians, and 7 deputy chief physicians; 90% hold postgraduate degrees. The multidisciplinary oncology consultation platform established by the team brings together more than 400 oncology experts from Shanghai's Grade A tertiary hospitals. The Comprehensive Oncology Department was the first to propose the “5H Oncology Service Model,” which received the 2018 Shanghai Medical Service Brand award. It established a domestic one-stop, whole-process, full-cycle personalized oncology service and, after passing an inspection by the National Medical Products Administration in 2019, was approved as a clinical trial institution for oncology drugs. It also created an innovative high-quality oncology service platform in China and became the Oncology Medical Consortium Center for China's non-public medical institutions. In addition, it received the “China Brand Physician Team” awards for 2020, 2021, and 2022; the “2022 China Brand Specialty” award; and the “2022 Top Ten Outstanding Physician Groups in China” award. The department has successively undertaken a total of 6 national- and municipal-level projects, during which it published 25 papers, including 15 SCI-indexed papers, and participated in more than 30 academic conferences at various levels.
