Haifu HIFU Treatment Center

The Gynecological HIFU Treatment Center of Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Health Hospital is an advanced gynecological HIFU subspecialty center in China and abroad. It specializes in stepwise treatment of uterine adenomyosis, centered on high-intensity focused ultrasonography (HIFU), as well as standardized, individualized, minimally invasive, and patient-centered treatment of uterine fibroids. Nearly 500 patients receive HIFU treatment each year. Under the leadership of Professor Aixingzi Aili, the HIFU team has carried out a series of innovative and distinctive surgeries and refined treatments for uterine adenomyosis and uterine fibroids, establishing distinctive subspecialty expertise and characteristics and achieving a positive academic and social impact. Our hospital’s HIFU Center is now the HIFU Minimally Invasive Treatment Center of the National Engineering Research Center for Ultrasound Medicine, the High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound Technology Research Cooperation Base of the National Engineering Research Center for Ultrasound Medicine, and a 2021 Outstanding Institution for the Clinical Application of HIFU Ablation. It has hosted peers from China and abroad for visits and study on many occasions, conducted national continuing education courses for five consecutive years, and gained recognition from peers at home and abroad. It currently leads and participates in multiple research projects and has published more than ten SCI papers and papers in Chinese core journals.

The Gynecological HIFU Center focuses not only on increasing the volume of medical services but also places greater emphasis on standardization and quality control in HIFU treatment. With the vigorous international promotion of the minimally invasive and noninvasive treatment concept, noninvasive treatment will achieve new breakthroughs and development. With comprehensive HIFU treatment and precise individualized treatment as its distinctive strengths, the Gynecological HIFU Center provides patients with a comfortable treatment model filled with humanistic care. Since the birth in September 2017 of our hospital’s first “HIFU baby”—a baby delivered after HIFU surgery—the number of “HIFU babies” successfully delivered after treatment at our hospital has now exceeded one hundred. At present, the effectiveness of and growth in the number of HIFU treatments at our hospital have taken a leading role in Shanghai, ranking among the forefront of peer institutions and earning their recognition and praise.
