West Campus Obstetrics
The Department of Obstetrics of Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Health Hospital is one of the first batch of national key clinical specialties and has ranked first in Shanghai in terms of delivery volume for nearly 10 years. The West Campus Department of Obstetrics has an annual delivery volume of 5000-6000 cases, aims to continuously improve obstetric quality and satisfaction with the childbirth experience, and focuses on perinatal nutrition management, delivery-room management, the development and promotion of appropriate delivery technologies, and the implementation of labor-analgesia programs. In recent years, the West Campus Department of Obstetrics has concentrated its superior medical resources, making perinatal nutrition management its distinctive feature; its main research directions are pregnancy nutrition assessment and intervention, and it is building a whole-cycle healthy lifestyle management center for women of childbearing age (preconception period, pregnancy period, puerperal period), including integrated multidisciplinary outpatient management, while also incorporating a multidisciplinary diagnosis-and-treatment management model based on smart healthcare, to reduce the incidence of maternal metabolic diseases and adverse perinatal outcomes in offspring. The West Campus Department of Obstetrics adopts a modern predictive (prediction, early warning, prevention, contingency planning, and rehearsal) medical management model to conduct integrated management throughout the peridelivery period and provide all-round, whole-cycle protection for the safety of mothers and infants, including measures such as establishing an early-warning system for high-risk obstetric diseases, graded disease management, simulation drills for obstetric emergencies and critical illnesses, and delivery-room quality-control management, thereby comprehensively improving the scientific management of the delivery room. It continuously conducts training in specialized obstetric diagnosis and treatment technologies such as VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), cervical cerclage, and external cephalic version for breech presentation, building a first-class standardized clinical skills training base for obstetrics.
