Pelvic Floor and Urogynecology Department

The Pelvic Floor and Urogynecology Department was established in 5/2019 and is an authorized site of Tongji University for conferring master's degrees. Pelvic floor dysfunction is a common disease among middle-aged and older women, and the department focuses its academic research on the pathogenesis, clinical diagnosis, and treatment of pelvic floor diseases, pools its efforts for development, has established a multidisciplinary joint diagnosis and treatment model, has developed and implemented a series of new condition-assessment methods and new surgical approaches, and has held national study classes for 3 consecutive years. The department mainly performs and conducts research on pelvic floor reconstructive surgery for pelvic floor dysfunction, including pelvic floor reconstruction procedures for uterine prolapse, bladder prolapse, rectocele, female stress urinary incontinence, vaginal laxity, etc., as well as plastic and reconstructive surgery of the female reproductive organs; it also provides minimally invasive surgical treatment for common gynecological diseases. The department's specialties and expertise include traditional transvaginal surgery, single-port laparoscopic surgery through a natural orifice (transumbilical), and da Vinci robotic surgery, pursuing medical and aesthetic goals together; professional, high-quality nursing techniques and meticulous humanistic care are also among the department's distinctive features.
