It has now become a comprehensive department integrating conventional X-ray, CT, MRI, bone mineral density examinations, PET-CT imaging diagnosis, hysterosalpingography, puncture, and interventional diagnosis and treatment, while combining medical, teaching, and research functions. The director of the Department of Radiology, Chief Physician Cheng Jiejun, specializes in imaging diagnosis in obstetrics and gynecology and interventional puncture and treatment, and is a master’s supervisor. The department currently cooperates comprehensively with multiple disciplines, including gynecology, obstetrics, neonatology, the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Department, and the Emergency Department, in clinical care, scientific research, and teaching. It routinely undertakes GCP clinical evaluations and MDT consultations on difficult cases, provides consultations within the medical consortium, and undertakes the training and supervision of physicians undergoing further training and undergraduate students. It continuously seeks new breakthroughs and strives to embark on a new journey.
The Department of Radiology currently has a total of 41 medical technology and nursing personnel, including 1 chief physician, 7 deputy chief physicians, 5 attending physicians, 4 resident physicians, 4 supervising technologists, 15 technologists, 4 nurses, and 1 clerk. Professional Features
The main services provided by the East Campus Department of Radiology include:
In diagnosis: imaging diagnosis and evaluation using conventional X-ray, with a focus on molybdenum-target mammographic imaging and hysterosalpingography, as well as CT, MRI, and PET-CT. The Department of Radiology undertakes imaging diagnosis and consultations for difficult cases from across the country, focusing mainly on obstetrics and gynecology, neonatology, fetuses, breast disease, and pulmonary ground-glass nodules. Key services include hysterosalpingography (HSG), CT/MRI imaging diagnosis in obstetrics and gynecology and neonatology, localization and characterization of tumor lesions in the female abdomen and pelvis, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of benign and malignant lesions, and fetal MRI diagnosis and consultation, including the head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and joints of the extremities.
In interventional diagnosis and treatment: the department currently performs vascular and nonvascular interventional diagnosis and treatment for obstetric and gynecologic diseases. Vascular intervention is used for the diagnosis and minimally invasive interventional treatment of antepartum and postpartum hemorrhage, cesarean-scar pregnancy, uterine arteriovenous malformations, uterine fibroids and adenomyosis, tumor embolization, PORT implantation, pelvic venous congestion syndrome, and other conditions. Current nonvascular interventional treatment mainly includes preoperative localization before mammographic breast puncture, selective salpingography (Selective Salpingorgraphy, SSG), and fallopian tube recanalization (Fallopian tube recanalization, FTR). It provides noninvasive recanalization for tubal infertility and noninvasive fallopian tube occlusion embolization before IVF-ET embryo transfer for infertile patients with hydrosalpinx, with the aim of increasing the embryo transfer success rate and conception rate of patients with hydrosalpinx.
The West Campus Department of Radiology currently mainly performs conventional X-ray radiography, mammography, hysterosalpingography (HSG), PORT implantation, and routine CT and MRI examinations.
Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Health Hospital is striving to create a nationally first-class obstetrics and gynecology hospital. The Department of Radiology integrates medical imaging diagnosis and intervention, develops medicine, education, and research comprehensively, sheds light on health, safeguards life, and contributes strength and luster to the hospital’s soaring development.
