Subspecialty of Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy
The subspecialty of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy is a key specialty in the field of obstetrics, focusing on the early screening, precise diagnosis and treatment, and comprehensive management throughout the entire course of pregnancy of gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, eclampsia, chronic hypertension complicating pregnancy, cardiovascular disease complicating pregnancy, and other conditions. The subspecialty is guided by the core principles of “precise assessment, multidisciplinary support, and whole-cycle management,” and is committed to improving maternal and infant outcomes and reducing the long-term risk of chronic diseases, serving as a key line of defense for pregnancy safety. Our core work includes: conducting early screening and precise diagnosis through dynamic blood pressure monitoring, quantitative urinary protein testing, blood biochemical analysis, and ultrasound Doppler assessment of fetal blood flow, combined with the formulation of individualized diagnostic criteria based on international guidelines; working jointly with teams from obstetrics, neonatology, cardiology, nutrition, and intensive care to implement multidisciplinary collaborative management, adopting stepwise medication regimens and incorporating non-pharmacological interventions such as a low-sodium, high-protein diet and the left lateral position, as well as remote home-monitoring technologies such as wearable devices, thereby achieving innovation in treatment strategies; and emphasizing the establishment of a long-term follow-up system to minimize patients’ future risk of cardiovascular disease.
The subspecialty of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy is led by Professor Li Liping and has 1 professor/doctoral supervisor/chief physician and 2 deputy chief physicians. All team members hold doctoral or master’s degrees. The team has received multiple research projects, including projects under the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Shenkang clinical support projects, providing strong theoretical and experimental evidence for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
