The team’s academic influence in the province is at a leading level.
The department draws on the strong clinical foundation of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Shandong Provincial Hospital and was the first in the province to implement refined subspecialization. Its diagnostic and treatment services comprehensively cover maternal-fetal medicine (high-risk pregnancy management), prenatal ultrasound diagnosis, ultrasound in gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology assessment, and pelvic floor ultrasound screening. With a solid theoretical foundation and extensive case resources, its comprehensive diagnostic capabilities for complex and difficult cases rank among the leading in the province, providing robust technical support for precise clinical diagnosis and treatment.
As a core department of a national standardized residency training base, the team is committed to the coordinated development of clinical care, education, and research. It undertakes year-round teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate students at Shandong First Medical University, provides standardized instruction for physicians undertaking further training, and regularly organizes academic activities open to primary-level healthcare providers. It has trained a large number of key ultrasound professionals both within and outside the province, strongly advancing the standardization of regional diagnosis.
The department is deeply integrated into the hospital’s multidisciplinary collaboration (MDT) platform. It has established regular multidisciplinary consultation mechanisms for fetal medicine, medical conditions complicating pregnancy, gynecologic malignancies, and other areas, enabling individualized precision diagnosis and treatment. It is also actively introducing cutting-edge technologies, including contrast-enhanced ultrasound, 3D/4D imaging, fetal neurosonography, and placenta accreta scoring, continuously optimizing the patient experience and improving clinical outcomes.
Guided by the department’s motto, “Medical excellence, profound virtue, upholding what is right and innovating,” the Department of Obstetric and Gynecologic Ultrasound will continue to remain rooted in clinical practice, deepen scientific research, and strengthen teaching. It is committed to building a high-level center for obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound diagnosis and treatment integrating medical care, education, and research, and to making a solid contribution to safeguarding women’s health throughout the life cycle.
