Anorectal Department Ward, Central Campus
After more than 30 years of development, under the leadership of successive hospital leaders and department heads, the Hemorrhoid and Fistula Specialty Group of our Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine has developed from nothing to something and from small to large, achieving comprehensive growth. In September 2022, a Department of Anorectal Surgery was established under the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, making professional development more convenient. The department can treat various anorectal diseases, including internal hemorrhoids, external hemorrhoids, mixed hemorrhoids, anal fistula, perianal abscess, rectal prolapse, rectal polyps, benign tumors of the anus and perirectal region, constipation, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and others. It performs hemorrhoidectomy after heart-valve surgery and kidney transplantation; Xiaozhiling injection; transanal rectal resection and transanal laparoscopic stapled repair of rectocele; repair of nonhealing perianal and sacrococcygeal wounds using an allogeneic dermal biological mesh; transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization with stapled mucosal resection; Limberg and Dufaument flap transfers for pilonidal sinus; repair of perineal lacerations complicated by rectal prolapse; repair of rectovaginal fistulas; and loose seton placement for high, complex anal fistulas while preserving sphincter function. An integrated traditional Chinese and Western medical approach is used for enhanced postoperative recovery and for treating constipation and ulcerative colitis, particularly in the external application of traditional Chinese medicines for debridement, pain relief, and promotion of healing in open wounds after multiple operations, which has earned widespread praise from patients.
