Health Care Respiratory Department

The Health Care Respiratory Department of Shandong Provincial Hospital was established in 2002 and has now developed into a specialized discipline integrating clinical care, teaching, and scientific research. Providing every patient with high-quality, whole-process, all-round, and humane services is the goal pursued by all colleagues in the Health Care Respiratory Department.

Our professional team has a high level of educational qualifications and technical expertise. We currently have 3 chief physicians, 2 deputy chief physicians, 1 attending physician, and 1 resident physician, including 5 doctors of medicine and 2 master's degree holders; 9 nursing staff members, including 5 nurse supervisors, 2 professional nurses, and 2 nurses, of whom 2 nurses are qualified in intensive care, 1 nurse is qualified for PICC maintenance, 1 is a wound and ostomy specialist nurse, 1 is a diabetes specialist nurse, and 1 is a geriatric specialist nurse. We have 16 beds, approximately 400 patient discharges per year, and provide emergency rescue for more than 80 critically ill elderly patients. For more than 10 years, we have consistently focused our clinical diagnosis and treatment and scientific research on common, frequently occurring, and critical diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, respiratory critical illness, pulmonary infectious diseases, respiratory failure, lung cancer, rare and difficult pulmonary diseases, and the rescue of patients with critical respiratory illness. For common and difficult diseases among older adults, we have established a relatively complete set of diagnostic and treatment procedures. In 2013, a new ICU ward of the Health Care Department was established and equipped with ventilators, monitors, fiberoptic bronchoscopes, multifunctional physiological monitors, and more, meeting the needs of treating critically ill respiratory patients. The nursing team is dedicated to its work, united, and hardworking. Its professional, high-quality, holistic nursing model has greatly benefited numerous patients. The department is one of the Provincial Hospital's 10 best nursing brand departments, and the head nurse was named one of the Provincial Hospital's 10 best head nurses. In addition to the daily demanding work in the wards, outpatient clinic, and in-department consultations, our department also undertakes health-care medical visits within and outside the province, local and nonlocal consultations, and remote consultations. We provide good medical services, have received praise, and have brought honor to our hospital's health-care work.

Our department is a master's degree training unit in respiratory and geriatric medicine at the Medical School of Shandong University. It has provided standardized training for 10 master's students. Each year, the department undertakes clinical teaching for master's and doctoral students, as well as resident physician training. We have participated in 2 National Natural Science Foundation projects, undertaken 1 Shandong Provincial Natural Science Foundation project, 1 Shandong Provincial Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Scientist Research Award Foundation project, and 1 Shandong Provincial Medical and Health Science and Technology Development Plan project. We have received 8 scientific research achievement awards, including 1 2nd prize and 7 3rd prizes for Shandong Provincial Medical Science and Technology Progress; obtained 10 patents; published 59 papers in domestic and international core journals as 1st authors and corresponding authors, including 5 SCI articles; and published 21 monographs, including 4 as chief editor, 1 as chief reviewer, and 4 as associate editor.
