East Campus Thoracic Oncology Department

The Department of Thoracic Oncology of Qingdao Municipal Hospital has 1 person with a senior professional title, 3 with associate senior professional titles, and 3 attending physicians; 1 has a doctoral degree, and all the others have master's degrees. The department is an important team member of the Qingdao Thoracic Oncology Diagnosis and Treatment and Innovation Center. The Qingdao Thoracic Diagnosis and Treatment and Innovation Center is headed by Professor Li Jian, a nationally leading figure in thoracic surgery, and is committed to providing "one-stop" individualized precision diagnosis and treatment for patients with lung cancer.

The Department of Thoracic Oncology not only provides patients with lung cancer with standardized chemotherapy, precision targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and other treatments, but is also particularly skilled in the diagnosis of lung cancer and bronchoscopic treatment. The department has conducted electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy, tumor resection within the airway under rigid bronchoscopy, silicone stent implantation under rigid bronchoscopy, and bronchoscopic electrocautery, cryotherapy combined with balloon dilation for the treatment of severe airway stenosis after tracheal intubation. It has also conducted bronchoscopy navigation combined with endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial lung biopsy through a guide sheath (EBUS-GS-TBLB) for the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary nodules, and transbronchial cryobiopsy for the diagnosis of interstitial lung disease. The application of the above new technologies has improved the department’s ability to manage complex airway diseases and the positive diagnostic rate for peripheral pulmonary nodules.
