The Emergency Neurology Department of the Main Campus of Qingdao Municipal Hospital is a National Advanced Stroke Center and the Cerebrovascular Disease Emergency Unit of Qingdao Municipal Hospital. It is a postgraduate training base for Nanjing Medical University, the School of Medicine and Pharmacy of Ocean University of China, the Medical College of Qingdao University, Dalian Medical University, Weifang Medical University and Taishan Medical University. In its long course of development it has always maintained its own characteristics and has now formed research directions with distinctive features and obvious advantages, such as the green channel for emergency treatment of cerebrovascular diseases and research on their prevention and treatment, the pathogenesis of intractable epilepsy and countermeasures for its prevention and treatment, and the pathogenesis of neuroinfectious diseases and countermeasures for their prevention and treatment. It attaches importance to the discipline development path of integrating and mutually promoting medical care, teaching and research, possesses the ability to solve key technical problems in the development of the field of neurology, and has achieved original results in establishing the emergency green channel, in screening for susceptibility genes and genetic diagnosis of major neurological diseases, and in individualized diagnosis and treatment, thus making an important contribution to the training of high-level talents in neurology in China.
