Main Campus Rheumatology and Immunology Department

The Department of Immunology and Rheumatology is a key clinical specialty of Shandong Province, the home institution of the Deputy Chairperson of the Rheumatology Branch of Shandong Province, the home institution of the Chairperson of the Rheumatology Professional Committee of Non-Public Medical Institutions of Shandong Province, the home institution of the Chairpersons of the first and second terms of the Qingdao Rheumatology Branch, and the Qingdao Key Laboratory of Immunorheumatic Diseases.

The department was established in August 2000 and was the first specialty in immunorheumatology in Qingdao. It established systematic clinical immunology and autoantibody testing, and played an important role in the early diagnosis and treatment of systemic rheumatic diseases such as lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Sjögren syndrome, vasculitis, and gout.

At present, the specialty's academic standing and clinical level have considerable influence both domestically and internationally, particularly in the areas of pregnancy and childbearing in relation to the prognosis of lupus erythematosus and arthritis such as gout, where important research achievements have been made. It has published more than 30 papers in China and abroad, served as editor-in-chief for 5 monographs, and served as deputy editor-in-chief and contributing editor for 9 monographs.
