East Campus Ultrasound Department (including Interventional Ultrasound)
The East Campus Department of Ultrasound has a total of 16 large, advanced diagnostic and treatment devices, including color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic systems from GE, Philips, Mindray, Hitachi, Hisense, and other manufacturers. It currently has 22 physicians and 2 nurses; 21 staff members have postgraduate degrees or higher, including 4 chief physicians and 4 deputy chief physicians.
Examinations offered:
I. Routine ultrasound examinations
Ultrasound of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen; urinary-system ultrasound; superficial small-organ ultrasound (thyroid, breasts, etc.); peripheral vascular ultrasound (neck vessels, upper-extremity vessels, lower-extremity vessels, abdominal vessels, etc.); gynecologic ultrasound (including transvaginal ultrasound); transrectal ultrasound; and other examinations.
II. Special ultrasound examinations
Musculoskeletal ultrasound, ocular ultrasound, neonatal cranial ultrasound, contrast-enhanced ultrasound, intraoperative ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided interventional procedures.
Technical strengths:
At present, the department has two distinctive specialized technologies: ultrasound-guided interventional techniques and musculoskeletal ultrasound techniques.
The department was the first in the Qingdao area to carry out ultrasound-guided interventional procedures. It has a strong technical team and performs ultrasound-guided needle biopsy, ultrasound-guided catheter placement and drainage for various fluid collections, and ultrasound-guided tumor thermal ablation (thyroid, breast, liver, etc.); in collaboration with the Department of Urology, it has performed transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate needle biopsy; intraoperative ultrasound examinations; and ultrasound-guided puncture treatment and localization of hepatic cysts, renal cysts, breast tumors, and others.
Musculoskeletal ultrasound can be used to examine and diagnose diseases involving muscles, tendons, ligaments, bursae, joints, peripheral nerves, and other structures. It can diagnose muscle and tendon injuries and inflammation, joint-cavity effusions, rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis, and peripheral nerve diseases such as nerve entrapment and nerve injury.
Department achievements:
Under the leadership and direction of the department director, the department has developed rapidly and has excellently completed its clinical, teaching, and scientific research work. Over the past five years, it has successfully completed standardized residency training in ultrasound and teaching assignments for physicians undergoing advanced training, applied for the establishment of three provincial- and municipal-level research projects, and published dozens of academic papers, including 5 SCI papers.
The department’s service brand, “Every Sound Reveals True Care”:
Brand connotation: 1. Sound: This refers to our specialty, “ultrasound”; we use this advanced diagnostic equipment to serve patients. 2. Reveals: “Display” is a professional term we commonly use, and it also implicitly conveys that the Department of Ultrasound demonstrates genuine care while serving patients. 3. True care: One meaning is to reflect patients’ actual medical conditions and provide accurate diagnoses; the other is to devote love and genuine care to patients in the course of our service.
The department’s service philosophy:
Strive for excellence and dedicate compassionate care.
