Ultrasound Medicine
Peking University Third Hospital’s Ultrasound Medicine Department, founded in 1960 and formally established in 1987, is one of China’s earliest ultrasound disciplines. It has 78 staff, 13 chief and 13 associate chief physicians, several subspecialty teams, more than 1.11 million annual visits and over 10,000 interventional procedures. Services include abdominal, superficial-organ, vascular, musculoskeletal and interventional ultrasound, ultrasound-guided biopsies, pain treatment and thermal ablation. It leads national musculoskeletal ultrasound training, supports a multi-campus network, conducts major translational research and trains residents and visiting physicians.
