Breast and Thyroid Surgery

Breast and Thyroid Surgery at Peking University Shenzhen Hospital is a Guangdong Provincial Clinical Key Specialty, a Shenzhen Clinical Key Discipline, a peak discipline of a high-level hospital in Guangdong Province, and a unit designated by the Shenzhen Health Commission as the Thyroid Disease Prevention and Treatment Center. It is currently the only unit in Shenzhen that simultaneously serves as the deputy-chair unit of the Guangdong Medical Association and the Guangdong Medical Doctor Association for both the breast and thyroid specialties. The department has 46 medical and nursing staff and 68 beds. It provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for common and frequently occurring breast diseases as well as difficult and severe cases, with particular emphasis on minimally invasive and cosmetic surgery. The department performs more than 4,000 operations, ranking first in Shenzhen, and has comprehensively improved standardized diagnosis and treatment for highly recurrent and refractory breast cancer. It has successively introduced a series of new clinical technologies and projects; high-level breast reconstruction and endoscopic breast surgery representing advanced clinical standards are at the forefront in China. Over the past five years, the department has been approved for 25 research projects, with total funding of approximately RMB 6.06 million; it has published 56 papers, obtained 47 authorized patents, received one municipal and one provincial science and technology progress award, and edited four monographs. Its academic appointments include six positions in national societies, nine in provincial societies, and 17 in municipal societies.
