Anaesthesiology
The Department of Anesthesiology was established in 1986 and became an independent clinical department in 2000. It is a clinical department integrating clinical anesthesia and analgesia, emergency resuscitation, teaching, and scientific research. It has a highly competent professional and technical team, currently comprising 17 physicians, including 4 with senior professional titles and 15 with a master’s degree or above. The Department of Anesthesiology currently has 8 laminar-flow operating rooms, all equipped with advanced anesthesia machines and monitoring systems, and performs more than 6000 cases of surgical anesthesia annually. Its scope of services includes anesthesia and postoperative pain treatment for maxillofacial surgery, pediatric dental treatment under general anesthesia, and electrocardiographic monitoring, sedation, and analgesia during oral treatment. Its clinical standards are at the leading level nationally. The department specializes in the management of various difficult airways and the anesthetic management of critically ill patients, elderly patients, and infants and young children, as well as perioperative management for major tumor flap reconstruction surgeries and bimaxillary orthognathic surgery. It is proficient in the use of target-controlled infusion (TCI) of anesthetic agents, visualized tracheal intubation, arterial and venous monitoring, controlled hypotension, and anesthesia-depth monitoring technologies such as the electroencephalographic bispectral index (BIS), as well as neuromuscular monitoring techniques. Over the years, there have been no deaths caused by anesthesia accidents, serious complications, or major medical disputes. The Department of Anesthesiology closely integrates teaching and scientific research with clinical practice. It undertakes theoretical instruction, clinical observation, and internships in anesthesiology for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students at our university; undertakes multiple institutional research projects; and has published dozens of scientific research papers in domestic and international journals. It undertakes a large number of out-of-hospital consultation and lecturing assignments and has long accepted anesthesiologists from across the country for further training.
