Laboratory Medicine

The Department of Laboratory Medicine of Peking University School of Stomatology undertakes routine clinical testing for all inpatient wards and outpatient clinics of the hospital. The department has specialties in clinical biochemistry, immunology, hematology, microbiology, and transfusion medicine, and routinely performs more than 60 testing items. All five specialty groups participate in the external quality assessment activities organized by the Ministry of Health and the Beijing Clinical Laboratory Center. It is equipped with advanced laboratory instruments, including Sysmex hematology analyzers, Sysmex coagulation analyzers, Tailite urine analyzers, Hitachi biochemical analyzers, Roche electrolyte analyzers, the Abbott i2000SR chemiluminescence analyzer, and fully automated microplate readers, among others. In 2008, it passed the ISO15189 medical laboratory accreditation conducted by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS), with 45 testing items accredited.
