Radiotherapy
The Department of Radiation Oncology of Peking University People's Hospital was established in 1988. At the beginning of the 21st century, the Department of Radiation Oncology began performing three-dimensional stereotactic conformal radiotherapy, ushering in a new era of precision tumor radiotherapy. With the strong support of the hospital and the unremitting efforts of the department staff, after just over 20 years of development, the Department of Radiation Oncology now possesses internationally leading hardware and extensive treatment experience, and has become one of the principal constituent units of the Department of Radiation Oncology of Peking University, undertaking teaching and research tasks as well as the training of physicians pursuing further education.
Under the leadership of Director Chen Yalin, the department has a professional team of 22 medical and nursing staff, physicists, and technicians, including 3 associate chief physicians, 2 attending physicians (all with postgraduate or higher degrees), 5 physicists, 2 nurses, and 10 technicians.
Advanced Equipment
Varian Turebeam: The Department of Radiation Oncology currently has the most advanced linear accelerator produced by the American company Varian, the Varian Turebeam. Its high dose rate, automatically integrated imaging system, and RPM respiratory gating system give it the characteristics of short treatment times, real-time tumor monitoring, and precision radiotherapy.
