Bone Tumor Department I

The Department I of Bone Tumors at Peking University People's Hospital was formerly the Department of Bone Tumors at Peking University People's Hospital (established in 1997). It has now developed into the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment center for bone and soft-tissue tumors with the largest annual volume of diagnosis and treatment domestically and internationally, and enjoys a prestigious reputation both in China and abroad. As a key discipline of the National Health Commission and the Ministry of Education, as well as China's first laboratory for bone tumors and bone diseases (a Beijing Key Laboratory), the department is currently led by Professor Guo Wei, the academic leader, and Director Yang Yi. It actively promotes the application of specialized new technologies in the treatment of sacral and pelvic tumors, spinal tumors, and limb malignancies with limb-salvage treatment, as well as in the chemotherapy of bone and soft-tissue malignancies, and has extensive clinical experience. Its treatment standards are at the forefront of the domestic field of bone and soft-tissue tumors and have reached internationally advanced levels.

Teaching of Specialized Surgical Techniques

The center specializes primarily in the surgical and chemotherapy treatment of primary benign and malignant bone tumors and the surgical treatment of bone metastatic cancer. Its specialties include tumor resection and reconstruction around the pelvic ring; en bloc resection and reconstruction of spinal tumors; clinical application of distinctive reconstruction methods for limb tumors; promotion and application of minimally invasive treatment concepts for bone metastatic cancer; and promotion and application in clinical practice of new digital and intelligent orthopedic technologies (3D printing technology, osteotomy guides, navigation, intraoperative visualization technology, and wearable rehabilitation devices).
