Bone Tumor Department II

The Department of Bone Tumors II of Peking University People’s Hospital was established in 2025. Its predecessor was the Department of Bone Tumors of Peking University People’s Hospital. It is a high-level comprehensive diagnosis and treatment center for bone and soft-tissue tumors in China and internationally, and a specialty department for bone and soft-tissue tumors with full-course management capabilities encompassing both surgery and drug therapy. It enjoys a distinguished reputation in China and internationally. The department currently has two wards, including one surgical ward and one comprehensive drug-treatment ward, with 103 open beds and more than 60 staff members. Among them are 2 professors and chief physicians (including 1 doctoral supervisor), 5 associate professors, associate research fellows, and associate chief physicians (including 2 master’s supervisors), and 4 attending physicians.

The Department of Bone Tumors II is a National Key Discipline of the Ministry of Education and a National Key Specialty of the National Health Commission, and has a postdoctoral research station. The current department director is Tang Xiaodong, chief physician, second-level professor, doctoral supervisor, and postdoctoral co-supervisor. His principal academic appointments include: Executive Council Member of the International Limb Salvage Association for Bone Tumors (the only one in China); Executive Council Member of the Asia-Pacific Society of Bone and Soft-Tissue Tumors; Chief Scientist of the National Health Commission’s major special project “Science and Technology Innovation 2030—Four Major Chronic Diseases”; Chief Scientist of the National Science and Technology Program’s 2024 Xiong’an New Area Science and Technology Innovation Special Project; member of the Bone Tumor Group of the Orthopaedics Branch of the Chinese Medical Association; member of the Bone Tumor Group and Spinal Tumor Group of the Orthopaedic Surgeons Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association; Deputy Chair of the Pelvic Oncology Branch of the China Association for the Promotion of International Medical and Healthcare Exchange; Standing Committee Member of the Bone Tumors and Bone Metastases Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association; Leader of the Spine Group of the Sarcoma Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association; and others.
