Haematology
The Department of Hematology of Peking University International Hospital was established in 2014. It is one of the earliest departments established at the hospital and is also a key department under development by the hospital. It currently has more than 40 beds for conventional chemotherapy and 18 available transplant laminar-flow rooms. The team consists of more than 10 members, including chief physicians, associate chief physicians, attending physicians, and technicians. The nursing teams in the chemotherapy and transplant wards together comprise approximately 30 nurses, more than half of whom hold bachelor’s degrees. The department currently has a well-developed talent structure. All team members have completed training within the Peking University medical system, possess a solid foundation in medical theory, and have extensive clinical experience. The department specializes in hematologic malignancies, including the precise diagnosis of and treatment—primarily through chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation—for various types of leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. The hematology laboratory is capable of performing most examination, diagnostic, and laboratory testing procedures. It also has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of benign hematologic diseases, including bone marrow failure disorders, various types of anemia, platelet disorders, and bleeding and coagulation disorders.
The academic leader is Professor Ren Hanyun, a domestic hematology expert. He previously served as Deputy Director of the Department of Hematology at Peking University People’s Hospital and Director of the Department of Hematology at Peking University First Hospital. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of hematologic malignancies and difficult hematologic diseases, and is a leading domestic expert in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. He has been engaged in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for more than 30 years, leading and completing nearly 2,000 hematopoietic stem transplantations of various types, with a transplantation success rate ranking among the advanced levels in China. For his outstanding contributions to the diagnosis and treatment of hematologic diseases and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, he received the inaugural China Physician Award in 2005. He has undertaken more than 10 national and provincial/ministerial-level research projects and has published more than 100 academic papers.
