Gynaecologic Oncology
Founded in 2005, the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at Peking University Cancer Hospital combines surgery, drug treatment and clinical research. It has 32 beds and 32 medical and nursing staff, including seven physicians at associate chief level or above. Procedures include radical hysterectomy, ovarian cancer staging and debulking, retroperitoneal and inguinal lymph-node dissection, endometrial cancer staging and radical vulvectomy. The department also uses sentinel lymph-node excision and hyperthermic intraperitoneal perfusion/chemotherapy. A multidisciplinary team with gastrointestinal surgery, urology, radiotherapy, imaging, pathology and other departments follows authoritative guidelines, performs complex multiorgan resections and combines surgery, drugs and radiotherapy in individualized plans. The hospital reports a high national volume of clinical trials in this specialty and emphasizes symptom management, survival and quality of life throughout care. Patients seeking trial enrollment can use the Peking University Cancer Hospital app, select “initial consultation” and “gynecologic oncology (clinical trials)” for an online initial consultation without registering for an outpatient appointment. The department is an accredited gynecologic cancer public education base, gynecologic malignancy MDT demonstration unit, Chinese gynecologic malignancy clinical research demonstration center and member of the C-HIPEC precise hyperthermic cavity perfusion alliance.
