General Practice
General practice is a comprehensive medical discipline integrating clinical medicine, preventive medicine, rehabilitation medicine and relevant humanities and social sciences. General practitioners train in biological and clinical care as well as psychology and behavioral science. After graduating from medical school, they undergo another two to three years or more of training and gain specialty experience in areas including pregnancy care, emergency care, critical care, cardiovascular disease and neurology. At Parkway, a team of physicians with overseas general practice qualifications provides medical and nursing care for conditions across different ages.
Department services: Early diagnosis of disease, particularly serious or potentially life-threatening conditions; management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and depression; management of emergencies and referral when needed, for example to another specialty or emergency department according to the patient’s condition; and coordination among the care team, including specialists and allied professionals such as physiotherapists, dietitians and psychological counselors, to help patients together.
