Early Uterine Cavity and Fallopian Tube Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center
Center for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Early Diseases of the Uterine Cavity and Fallopian Tubes
Since the 1990s, the Hysteroscopy Center of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Affiliated with Fudan University has used cold knives and monopolar and bipolar energy for all kinds of intrauterine procedures. It is one of the earliest hospitals in China to perform gynecological hysteroscopic surgery, with the largest number of procedures and the most comprehensive range of case types. It was among the first institutions in China to be awarded, in 2006, by the Ministry of Health as a Level IV hysteroscopy diagnosis and treatment technology training base. Every year, it trains more than 300 gynecological endoscopists from across the country, driving the improvement of hysteroscopy diagnosis and treatment technology in East China and throughout the country. The “Red House” hysteroscopy diagnosis and treatment model leads the domestic industry and can simultaneously provide outpatient, day-care, and inpatient hysteroscopy diagnosis and treatment services. With the miniaturization and serialization of instruments, and the development and application of fiber optics, cold-light technology, uterine distension equipment, and energy technologies, hysteroscopic examinations and surgeries have become safer, more effective, and more convenient.
The Hysteroscopy Diagnosis and Treatment Center of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Affiliated with Fudan University has the advantage of integrating medical care, education, and research, and brings together a first-class medical, nursing, and scientific research team in China. The center currently has 23 senior- and intermediate-level full-time medical staff, most of whom are senior gynecologists who have long been engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of cervical diseases, including 8 chief physicians, 8 associate chief physicians, and 7 attending physicians; among them, 17 hold doctoral degrees and 6 hold master's degrees. There are also 16 full-time nurses. The Hysteroscopy and Fallopian Tube Diagnosis and Treatment Center was officially inaugurated and established in 2018, with Director 隋龙 as the academic leader. The center handles more than 100,000 outpatient visits annually and performs more than 10,000 hysteroscopic surgeries each year. It has consistently maintained an excellent tradition of humanistic medical services, strengthened management and procedures, and made full use of the advantages of the specialty-specific Hysteroscopy Red House model, which is primarily based on day-case outpatient care. It is a domestic leader and has reached international standards. Professor 隋龙 of our center led more than 20 hospitals nationwide in compiling the National Guidelines for the Establishment and Management Procedures of Day-Case Hysteroscopy Surgery Centers. At the First National Video Competition for Hysteroscopic Resection of Uterine Fibroids, our center’s doctors 张宏伟 and 陈丽梅 won first and second place, respectively, in the national TCRM grand final! Doctor 张宏伟 of our hospital won the Brave Summit Award, the Superb Technical Skills Award, and the Most Innovative Award.
Department Features
Established correction standards for uterine septum, an SOP for endometrial resection in cases of menorrhagia, and pioneered the expanded application of vaginoscopy; conducted precise diagnosis and treatment of endometrial lesions (established hysteroscopic surgical procedures for fertility-sparing treatment of early endometrial cancer and precancerous lesions); performed a large number of annual surgeries for severe intrauterine adhesions, as well as the resection of complex submucosal uterine fibroids, repair of cesarean scar diverticula, and the diagnosis and treatment of other difficult and complex intrauterine diseases; pioneered innovations in intrauterine diagnosis and treatment technologies, such as hysteroscopic resection of type 3 uterine fibroids within the pseudocapsule, thereby improving quality and increasing influence; established Shanghai quality-control standards for the single diseases of endometrial polyps/endometrial hyperplasia, and conducted basic and clinical research on the pathogenesis, diagnostic and treatment technologies of intrauterine adhesions and other intrauterine diseases. Obtained several invention patents for the prevention and treatment of intrauterine adhesions.
Teaching situation
Each year, participates in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students, training 5 doctoral students and nearly 20 master’s students. Each year, provides clinical instruction to hundreds of visiting physicians. Each year, conducts national-level training courses on the expanded application of hysteroscopic techniques, as well as multiple practical hysteroscopy training sessions. Conducts multiple clinical studies, including international multicenter clinical studies on uterine cavity diseases (endometrial cancer screening), disposable hysteroscopes, intrauterine adhesions, and others. Translated the hysteroscopy monograph: “Diagnosis and Surgical Techniques of Hysteroscopy.”
