Dental Prosthetic Technology Department

The Dental Prosthetics Technology Department of Nanjing Stomatological Hospital, affiliated with Nanjing University Medical School, develops and manufactures dental restorations and provides technical training and teaching. It reports 54 technical staff, including one standing committee member and two committee members of the Chinese Stomatological Association's dental technology specialty committee. In late 2006 the hospital established the wholly owned Nanjing Era Denture Technology Development Co., Ltd., an independent legal entity that also accepts external manufacturing work.

The department uses 3D printing, CAD/CAM and 3Shape and Dental Wings scanners. It produces zirconia and cast-ceramic restorations, precious-metal and implant-supported prostheses, removable alloy frameworks, injection-molded and flexible dentures and attachments. Products also include orthodontic appliances, anti-snoring devices, sports mouthguards and children's space maintainers.

It teaches undergraduate and graduate practical courses, trains dental technicians from other institutions, serves as a designated practical training base for two vocational colleges and collaborates with clinicians on research. The hospital describes professional exchanges and staff training in Germany, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong, along with standardized production and quality-assurance processes.
