The Department of Gastroenterology at Kunming Tongren Hospital mainly treats diseases of the stomach, intestines, liver and biliary tract, pancreas, spleen, and other organs. It has particular expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophageal cancer, gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, gastric cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, functional gastrointestinal disorders, enteritis, intestinal tuberculosis, tuberculous peritonitis, fatty liver, cirrhosis, liver cancer, liver failure, acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, food poisoning, and other diseases. It also has distinctive expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of jaundice, ascites, abdominal masses, chronic diarrhea, constipation, and gastrointestinal bleeding. The department is equipped with an advanced electronic gastroscopy and enteroscopy diagnostic and therapeutic system and a compatible endoscopy workstation, as well as Helicobacter pylori testing equipment. It performs specialized procedures including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography with stone extraction (ERCP), endoscopic submucosal dissection/endoscopic mucosal resection (ESD/EMR), and endoscopic variceal ligation/sclerotherapy of esophageal and gastric fundal varices (EVL/EVS). It specializes in endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer, removal of gastrointestinal polyps, endoscopic hemostasis for gastrointestinal bleeding, endoscopic repair of gastrointestinal perforations, dilation and stent placement for gastrointestinal strictures, removal of gastrointestinal foreign bodies, gastrojejunal tube placement, and other endoscopic interventional and minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
