1. Basic information: The Ultrasound Department of Suzhou Jiulong Hospital was established in 2005. Through years of development and the broad recruitment of talented professionals from across the country, it has grown into a strong ultrasound team in Suzhou. 2. Scale: the department currently has 14 diagnostic rooms, 5 rooms in the health examination centre and 1 emergency room. 3. Staff: there are 10 doctors with senior professional titles and 18 with intermediate or junior titles, 1 with a doctoral degree and 3 with a master's degree. Every year young key members of the department are regularly sent to Shanghai Changhai Hospital, Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital and other hospitals for further training. 4. Equipment: the department is equipped with professional colour Doppler ultrasound systems from Philips, Siemens, GE, Samsung and other manufacturers. 5. Clinical features: the department performs abdominal, vascular, obstetric and gynaecological anomaly-screening, echocardiographic and gastrointestinal ultrasound, as well as interventional ultrasound (various needle biopsies, catheter drainage, cardiac closure procedures, mitral balloon valvuloplasty, alcohol septal ablation for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, MitraClip, TAVR, microwave ablation of thyroid nodules, iodine-125 seed implantation, etc.). 6. Research and teaching: the department holds one grant from the Suzhou Science and Technology Bureau, one third prize of the Suzhou Medical Association Science and Technology Award and one second prize for the introduction of new technology in the Industrial Park, and has published dozens of papers in SCI-indexed and Chinese Medical Association journals.
