1. Basic information: The Department of Urology was established in 2006 through the joining of Professor Wang Xizhi, leader of the Urology Diagnosis and Treatment Group at Shanghai Changhai Hospital, and young and middle-aged core professionals from many parts of China. After years of development, it has built a professional medical team combining senior, middle-aged, and young members, with broad knowledge, strong work capabilities, and a spirit of innovation and dedication. Scientific management of the department has fostered a serious and responsible work attitude among all doctors, who focus on providing patients with excellent diagnostic and treatment technologies and medical services, and who have traveled to other hospitals on multiple occasions to conduct urology expert consultations. 2. Bed capacity: 48 beds are currently available. 3. Personnel team: The department currently has 28 medical and nursing staff members, including 12 doctors. The medical technology team is strong overall and has a reasonable structure; there are 6 chief physicians and deputy chief physicians and 6 attending physicians; among them are 2 doctoral degree holders and 10 master's degree holders (including those currently studying). 4. Equipment configuration: The Department of Urology has a complete range of specialized equipment, including a laparoscopic surgical system, wolf flexible ureteroscope lithotripsy system, Cyberwand percutaneous nephroscope lithotripsy and stone-clearing system, ultrafine percutaneous nephroscope, storz ureteroscope and high-power holmium laser lithotripsy system, transurethral green laser vaporization of the prostate, plasma prostate enucleation, Storz prostate vaporization electrotomy, bladder tumor electrotomy and laser resection system, electronic flexible cystoscope, as well as an extracorporeal shock wave lithotripter, urodynamic testing instrument, Rigiscan erectile function measuring instrument, microscope, routine semen analyzer, and other specialized equipment for urology and andrology. 5. Clinical specialties: The department routinely performs all urological surgeries and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of various difficult urological diseases and complex surgeries, especially prostate cancer surgery and comprehensive treatment, bladder cancer resection and bladder and urinary tract reconstruction, endoluminal techniques (vaporization electrotomy, enucleation, and high-power green laser vaporization) for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, percutaneous nephrolithotomy combined with ureteroscopy (flexible ureteroscopy) for the treatment of complex upper urinary tract stones, microscopic vas deferens (epididymal) anastomosis, and the diagnosis and treatment of cystitis glandularis, among other areas. The diagnosis and treatment of prostate diseases, diagnosis and treatment of bladder tumors and cystitis glandularis, minimally invasive treatment of complex urinary tract stones, andrology microsurgery, diagnosis and treatment of neurogenic bladder and complex urinary control disorders such as urinary incontinence and refractory urinary frequency and urgency, pediatric urology, and the independent completion of image reconstruction, preoperative planning, fusion biopsy, and 3D-printing-assisted complex surgeries have become distinctive features of the Department of Urology. It has become a collaborating department of the Demonstration Center for Remote Programming of Sacral Neuromodulation. 6. Research and teaching: The department undertakes the teaching of hospital resident doctors undergoing standardized training and intern doctors. Several self-developed and self-manufactured 3D-printed minimally invasive surgery teaching and training devices have become a distinctive feature and have received hospital teaching awards. It undertakes multiple research projects in Suzhou City and the Industrial Park. 2 people have received the Jiulong Nomination Award for Young Talents from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and many have previously received support for high-level urgently needed talent in the Industrial Park. In recent years, the department has cumulatively published more than 10 SCI articles with first authorship, as well as multiple articles in Chinese core journals. It emphasizes the integration of scientific research with clinical practice and the integration of medicine and engineering; multiple patents have been translated into clinical applications.
