Clinical Features: Elderly patients are a special population affected by multiple diseases. They are characterized by declining physiological function, reduced reserve capacity, functional impairment, atypical clinical manifestations of common diseases, the coexistence of multiple chronic diseases with multi-organ and cross-system diseases, and the combined use of multiple medications; they are also easily affected by mental, psychological, social, and family factors. Modern geriatric medicine has shifted from the traditional simple diagnosis-and-treatment model of subspecialties to patient-centered individualized medical care. Its purpose is to provide elderly patients with professional and appropriate medical and preventive healthcare services and to maintain and restore their functional status and quality of life. The medical and nursing staff of the Department of Geriatric Medicine actively visit communities and nursing homes at the grassroots level, conduct large-scale free medical consultations and counseling, provide health care for the general elderly population, and engage in in-depth cooperation with multiple senior-living communities and nursing homes. They have established a green channel for medical visits, making access more convenient for the many elderly patients with limited mobility. Our department conducts screening and treatment with distinctive specialty features for osteoporosis, dementia, and malnutrition in the elderly, as well as comprehensive treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and advanced lung cancer in the elderly, achieving good therapeutic results. The Department of Geriatric Medicine specializes in various common diseases of the elderly, including the emergency rescue and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and critical respiratory illnesses. It has certain clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, heart failure, hypertension, diabetes, cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe pneumonia in the elderly, advanced lung cancer, and other diseases.
