As the internal medicine department of a specialized obstetrics and gynecology hospital, the department carries out clinical work centered on the recipients of hospital services—pregnant and postpartum women, the preconception population, and surgical patients of the gynecology and breast departments. After several decades of accumulated clinical experience, it has developed its own clinical characteristics. For patients of the gynecology and breast departments, especially middle-aged and elderly patients with concomitant diseases of the cardiovascular system, endocrine system, respiratory system, etc., it performs clinical diagnosis and treatment including preoperative adjustment of blood pressure and blood glucose, correction of arrhythmias, perioperative preparation of elderly patients, and postoperative follow-up; it conducts preconception assessment, guidance, and targeted diagnosis and treatment for women of reproductive age; it diagnoses and treats pregnant women with respiratory tract infections, thyroid dysfunction, hypertension, diabetes, anemia, thrombocytopenia, abnormal liver function, and other diseases, and provides postpartum follow-up; in response to the physiological changes of different populations during special stages (pregnant and postpartum women during pregnancy, surgical patients during the perioperative period), it has extensive clinical experience in medication use during pregnancy and in the diagnosis, treatment, and rescue of perioperative internal medicine complications.
