Introduction to the Department: The Medical Laboratory Center of Xiamen Hong'ai Hospital comprises two secondary departments: the Department of Laboratory Medicine and the Department of Blood Transfusion. Integrating medical care, teaching and scientific research, it is a high-quality medical technology team with strong technical capabilities, advanced equipment, a complete range of laboratory test items and humanized service. In August 2021, it obtained the ISO 15189 accreditation certificate issued by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS), and set three “firsts in Fujian”: the first hospital in Fujian Province whose Laboratory Medicine Department and Blood Transfusion Department passed ISO 15189 accreditation simultaneously; the first hospital blood transfusion department in Fujian Province to pass ISO 15189 accreditation; and the first non-public hospital in Fujian Province to pass ISO 15189 accreditation. In 2022, the Xiamen City Urban COVID-19 nucleic acid testing base was completed and put into operation. The laboratory center is a biosafety level II laboratory with a floor area of about 2,500 square meters. Talent structure: The personnel structure is well organized and the team collaborates efficiently. The center has 1 recipient of the State Council Special Allowance, 2 chief technologists, 5 associate chief technologists and 16 supervisors (senior technologists). It also has many professors, associate professors and lecturers, who undertake teaching tasks for master's and undergraduate students of several universities; 3 licensed physicians and 2 part-time psychological counselors can provide patients with a better communication platform, strengthening humanistic care for patients and enhancing their medical experience. Equipment support: The Department of Laboratory Medicine is equipped with advanced instruments, including the province's first set of Beckman's latest 4-track biochemistry-immunology automated line system, the Roche cobas 8000 E602 electrochemiluminescence system, the bioMérieux microbial identification/susceptibility system, the bioMérieux VITEK MS PLUS microbial mass spectrometer, the bioMérieux 3D blood culture instrument, the Sysmex XN9000 hematology line system, the Sysmex CS 5100 fully automated coagulation analyzer, the Sysmex UC3500+UF5000 urinalysis/sediment line, the Beckman DxFLEX flow cytometer, the BC ROBO6 fully automated intelligent blood collection management system, the ABI QuantStudio Dx real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR instrument and other advanced equipment. These automated instruments not only ensure the smooth progress of daily medical work, but also provide an excellent platform for clinical research and teaching.
