Obstetrics and Gynecology Ward 2
Ward II of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University was established in 2008. Centered on Professor Tan Wenhua (谭文华), a reserve discipline leader of Heilongjiang Province and master's supervisor, it is a comprehensive department integrating medical care, teaching, research, prevention, and health care, whose medical and technical standards in general gynecology, gynecologic oncology, gynecologic endocrinology, and gynecologic pelvic floor medicine have long been at the national leading level. In 2014 it was approved as a “Clinical Research Base” of the Wu Jieping Medical Foundation. In 2015 it introduced the concept of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS), becoming one of the earlier obstetrics and gynecology wards nationwide to apply ERAS technology, successfully shortening patients' hospital stays, reducing hospitalization costs, and improving patient satisfaction.
Our ward has 60 beds, with an annual outpatient volume of more than 25,000 visits, an annual average of more than 4,000 inpatients, nearly 3,000 surgical patients per year, and an annual average of more than 700 outpatient surgeries; it has treated large numbers of difficult and complicated cases and accumulated rich clinical experience. The ward currently has 28 in-service physicians and nurses, including 5 chief physicians, 5 attending physicians, 2 resident physicians, 2 deputy chief nurses, 12 supervising nurses, and 2 nurses. The physician team has 5 members with senior professional titles, 1 doctoral supervisor, and 2 master's supervisors. Four hold doctorates in medicine, and all young and middle-aged physicians hold master's degrees. Director Professor Tan Wenhua has worked in clinical obstetrics and gynecology care, teaching, and research for more than 20 years, serves on the committees of several national and provincial discipline associations, and has presided over the editing of several national publications. Under Professor Tan's leadership, department members publish multiple research and teaching papers in national core journals every year, undertake numerous national and provincial research projects, and have been honored with the Heilongjiang Province “Youth Civilization Award” title.
The department takes “creating first-class work, first-class service, first-class management, and first-class team” as its development purpose, always putting patients at the center and quality at the core, implementing refined scientific management; following international gynecological diagnostic and treatment norms and carefully formulating individualized treatment plans; adopting brand-new modern service concepts to provide patients with thorough humanistic care, striving to let patients receive high-quality medical services.
Our ward has the most advanced laparoscopy and hysteroscopy systems, cervical special staining and enzyme histochemical staining, a gene chip technology system for HPV infection detection, digital electronic colposcopy systems, LEEP systems, cervical self-coagulation ablation systems, and a series of other advanced instruments and equipment. For the causes of gynecological diseases, we adopt individualized design and minimally invasive surgical methods, combining drug and physical therapy, etiological treatment with consolidative regulation, and all-round dialectical (syndrome-based) treatment. We took the lead in carrying out basic and clinical research and treatment of female pelvic floor dysfunction; we use thin-layer liquid-based cytology, cervical special staining and enzyme histochemical staining (FH), the TBS reporting system, and HC-II HPV testing for cervical lesion screening, and deeply explore standardized diagnosis and treatment of cervical diseases; we broadly and deeply carry out clinical research and treatment with gynecological endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery, including the use of minimally invasive surgery for various benign and malignant gynecological tumors. At the same time, we adopt multi-channel tumor chemotherapy regimens; currently, clinical treatment methods for ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, and choriocarcinoma are advanced, with good patient prognosis and high survival rates, and the department enjoys extremely high influence and academic standing in our province.
