Geriatric Ward II
Department Introduction: The Cadre Ward of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University was established in 1981. After nearly 30 years of determined development, it has expanded into a comprehensive department integrating outpatient services, wards, and functional examination rooms. With advanced equipment and comprehensive functions, it is the largest comprehensive department in the province for the diagnosis and treatment of geriatric diseases. In 2012, it was officially established as a special-needs ward at the departmental and bureau level (Cadre Ward 2), and in December 2017, the Cadre Ward 2 Surgical Ward was established. It is currently an integrated facility comprising outpatient services, internal medicine and surgical wards, and functional examination rooms, with advanced equipment and comprehensive functions. The accommodations comprise general rooms and two-room suites equipped with air conditioning and color televisions, with attached bathrooms and hot water available 24 hours a day. They provide comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and healthcare services, as well as a hotel-like, garden-like medical and recuperative environment. The building contains an ECG room, bone-density testing room, color Doppler ultrasound room, CT room, MRI room, gastroenteroscopy room, operating room, and other facilities, truly providing one-stop diagnosis and treatment services. It also contains a departmental- and bureau-level outpatient clinic, an independent registration office, and a pharmacy, saving patients a great deal of valuable time.
Cadre Ward 2 currently has 39 medical and nursing staff, including 12 doctors and 27 nurses. There are 3 supervisors of master’s students, 3 chief physicians, 7 associate chief physicians, and 2 attending physicians. There are 9 holders of medical doctorates, 1 doctoral student currently enrolled, and 2 holders of medical master’s degrees. The doctors with bachelor’s degrees have extensive theoretical knowledge and many years of practical experience, and each has a professional area of expertise. Among the 27 nurses, 2 have master’s degrees, 33 have bachelor’s degrees, and 5 have junior-college qualifications. There are 10 nurse supervisors, 23 nurses with the professional rank of nurse practitioner, and 7 nurses.
The department persists in carrying out quality-service activities and adheres to the medical service philosophy of “patient-centered and guided by medical care and healthcare.” In line with the service principle of “everything for the patient” and the spirit of “Doing every simple thing well is not simple! Doing every ordinary thing well is extraordinary!”, it continuously improves the quality of its work and services. Patients receive high-level treatment and nursing, including daily-living care, psychological comfort, emotional support, and other nursing services. The department provides patients with greater humanistic care and meets the medical, healthcare, and rehabilitation needs of patients with diverse needs through first-class technology and first-class service, opening a sunny pathway to the oasis of life for the broader patient population. Along with the progress of human society, and in harmony between the environment and health and between humanity and nature, the geriatric medicine department will work hard and make every effort, through active exploration, to raise the medical care and healthcare of cadres in our province, the treatment of diseases of the various organs of the elderly, and the prevention and treatment of lifestyle-related diseases to a new level.
