General Surgery

The Comprehensive Surgery Ward was established in June 2018. It is a surgical ward primarily specializing in spinal surgery while also providing medical care for senior officials. The department has 20 authorized beds and 8 physicians, all of whom hold doctoral degrees. Among them are 2 doctoral supervisors, 3 master's supervisors, 4 professors and chief physicians, 3 associate chief physicians, and 1 attending physician. There are 11 nursing staff members, including 1 associate chief nurse, 8 supervising nurses, 2 nurses, 2 staff members with master's degrees, and 9 with bachelor's degrees.

The department's diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic diseases are at an advanced domestic level. In particular, the treatment of spinal surgical diseases is the department's distinctive specialty, including degenerative spinal diseases such as cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation, and thoracolumbar spinal canal stenosis, as well as spinal tumors, spinal fractures, and spinal infections. In addition to conventional surgery, the department has performed a large number of highly complex procedures, such as: "multilevel total vertebrectomy and spinal reconstruction for the treatment of spinal metastatic cancer," "scoliosis correction," "kyphosis osteotomy and correction," "resection of high cervical intraspinal and extraspinal tumors," "anterior and posterior approaches for the treatment of atlantoaxial fracture-dislocation," "cervico-occipital fusion and atlantoaxial fusion for the treatment of atlantoaxial instability and deformity," "posterior cervical surgery for the treatment of severe cervical ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament," "360° thoracic spinal canal decompression for the treatment of severe thoracic spinal canal stenosis," and "cervical artificial disc replacement," as well as minimally invasive treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Patients have been relieved of their suffering and have experienced improved quality of life.

Our department has successively led more than ten national-, provincial-, and ministerial-level projects and has received multiple national-, provincial-, and ministerial-level awards. These include 1 key project of the National Natural Science Foundation, 5 general projects, 2 projects funded by the Provincial Natural Science Foundation, 2 second prizes for scientific and technological progress awarded by the provincial government, and 1 third prize for scientific and technological progress awarded by the provincial government. More than 100 papers have been published in domestic and international core journals, with more than 30 indexed by SCI, and the department has served as chief editor or contributing editor of multiple books. It has received the first, second, and third prizes of the Heilongjiang Province Health New Technology Application Award and the first and second prizes of the Harbin Medical University Medical New Technology Achievement Award on multiple occasions. The department also undertakes multi-track teaching tasks for Harbin Medical University. There are currently 6 doctoral students and 15 master's students enrolled. In total, nearly 100 master's students and more than 50 doctoral students have been trained.

Under the leadership of Director Yan Jinglong, Deputy Director Xi Chunyang, and Head Nurse Liu Lingling, the Comprehensive Surgery Department adheres to the department-building philosophy of "precision, rigor, pragmatism, innovation, humanity, harmony, professionalism, and benevolence." It has formed a first-class medical team in China for the diagnosis and treatment of cervical spondylosis, thoracic spinal canal stenosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis, lumbar spinal canal stenosis, lumbar disc herniation, intraspinal tumors, idiopathic scoliosis, and complex spinal cord and spinal injuries, among other diseases.
