Songbei – Ultrasound Department
The Songbei Ultrasound Department of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University currently has a total of 15 experienced medical staff, including 1 associate chief physician, 5 attending physicians, 1 resident physician, 1 nurse, 1 doctoral degree holder, 1 master's graduate, and 7 medical support staff. The department has 8 examination rooms, including 5 outpatient examination rooms, 1 emergency examination room, and 2 interventional examination rooms. The department currently has 6 advanced imported and domestically produced color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic systems: 1 GE VOLUSON E8, 1 Hitachi Aloka (HI VISION Preirus) color ultrasound system, 1 Netherlands Philips full-digital color ultrasound system (PHILIPS EPIQ 5), 1 Netherlands Philips full-digital portable color ultrasound system (PHILIPS CX50), 1 German Siemens color ultrasound system (SIEMENS), and 1 Chinese Mindray color ultrasound system. Each machine is equipped with an ultrasound color image-and-text workstation, and reports and records are managed electronically. The department can comprehensively perform ultrasound examinations of all organs and viscera throughout the body, providing excellent services for the outpatient, emergency, and inpatient departments of the Songbei campus.
The ultrasound diagnostic technologies currently available in the department include: the digestive system (liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, abdominal cavity), urinary system (kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate), superficial organs (breasts, thyroid, lymph nodes, scrotum, groin, parotid glands, submandibular glands, superficial masses), obstetrics (fetus and adnexa), gynecology, the heart, cervical vessels and peripheral vessels, neonatal cranial and hip-joint ultrasound, and others. Elastography has been performed for the breast, thyroid, liver, kidneys, superficial lymph nodes, and pelvic lesions; contrast-enhanced ultrasound examinations have been performed for focal and diffuse lesions of the liver, kidneys, superficial organs, cardiovascular system, and gynecology. Gastrointestinal contrast-enhanced ultrasound examinations have also been performed, achieving good diagnostic efficacy in gastric disease screening and increasing the detection rate of early lesions. At the same time, the department's specialized diagnostic and treatment technology—ultrasound-guided interventional diagnosis and treatment—has been developed, including ultrasound-guided puncture aspiration and sclerotherapy for cysts, abscesses, and encapsulated effusions in various organs; puncture catheter drainage for biliary and urinary tract obstruction; histological and cytological biopsy techniques for masses in various organs and superficial organs; and radiofrequency and microwave ablation treatment of tumors of the liver, thyroid, and breast.
