The Department of Psychiatry and Psychology of the Fourth Hospital of Harbin Medical University was established in 2009. It is one of the earliest hospitals among general hospitals in Heilongjiang Province to provide integrated psychiatric medical care, teaching, and research. It currently has 23 open beds and is a National Standardized Training Base for Psychiatric Residents, a base of the China Psychosomatic Medicine Education Alliance, and a member institution of the Northern Psychiatry and Psychology Medical Alliance and the network for the construction of the Clinical Research Big Data and Biospecimen Bank Platform of the National Clinical Research Center for Mental and Psychological Diseases.
As the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology of a general hospital, our characteristics are a large outpatient service and a small inpatient ward. At present, the department has more than 20,000 outpatient visits annually, with the highest daily outpatient volume reaching 120 visits. Current treatments mainly target various mental disorders, such as anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depressive disorders, emotional disorders in adolescents, anxiety and depressive disorders in older adults, and organic mental disorders, as well as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, and other conditions in patients who are able to cooperate with medication. The inpatient ward adopts a semi-closed management model.
The Department of Psychiatry and Psychology has developed distinctive clinical diagnosis and treatment services. Relying on the powerful clinical diagnostic and treatment equipment and resources of a tertiary Grade A hospital, as well as the advantages of multidisciplinary liaison consultations in a general hospital, the department provides patients with comprehensive and complete clinical diagnosis and treatment services. The combination of pharmacotherapy, physical therapy, and psychotherapy is a distinctive treatment feature of our department. Diversified diagnostic and treatment methods enable patients to achieve faster and better clinical recovery.
