Urology Ward II
The Department of Urology of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University is a specialized department integrating clinical care, scientific research, and teaching. It ranks among the leading institutions in China in the treatment of urinary system tumors, urinary system stones, and prostate diseases. It is an institution authorized to offer postdoctoral, doctoral, and master's programs; a specialist physician training base recognized by the Ministry of Health; the China–Russia Urology Holmium Laser Training Base; the Heilongjiang Urology Minimally Invasive Treatment Center; and an initiating institution of the Heilongjiang Urology Specialty Alliance. It has been designated the China–Russia Institute of Urology, has received the “Advanced Medical Department” award from the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University for many consecutive years, and has been designated a key department.
The department comprehensively provides minimally invasive endoluminal treatment for urinary system diseases. It was the first in the province to introduce a fourth-generation da Vinci robot and has now performed minimally invasive surgery for nearly all urinary system diseases. For example: it successfully performed the province’s first robot-assisted laparoscopic radical cystectomy and was the first in the province to perform robot-assisted laparoscopic anatomical radical prostatectomy, achieving good results in postoperative urinary continence and preservation of sexual function in patients with prostate cancer. The number of kidney and ureteral stone cases treated with holmium laser using flexible ureteroscopy ranks first in the province, and it was the first in the province to perform transurethral holmium laser enucleation of the prostate. It also successfully completed Heilongjiang Province’s first robot-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy, pyeloplasty, and radical surgery for renal pelvis cancer and ureteral cancer. It performs percutaneous nephroscopy for complex renal stones and staghorn calculi, among others. It regularly holds academic conferences in the province, including prostate biopsy training courses, minimally invasive urinary stone treatment workshops, and “hand-in-hand” laparoscopic animal-experiment training courses.
