Characteristic advantages:
1 Infertility:
Infertility is one of the primary advantageous diseases treated in our department. Our department is skilled in using integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine to promote ovulation, oral and topical traditional Chinese medicines, combined with hysteroscopic recanalization of the fallopian tubes, to treat infertility caused by ovulatory dysfunction, immune factors, fallopian tube obstruction, endometriosis, and other causes, achieving a good conception rate. Our department is particularly skilled in treating infertility caused by hydrosalpinx, adhesions, and unobstructed but impaired patency of the fallopian tubes. At present, a series of characteristic departmental preparations, the “Tong Guan Zhu Yun Decoction,” has been developed and is widely used in clinical practice.
2 Acute and chronic pelvic inflammation, endometritis, salpingitis, pelvic congestion syndrome:
A comprehensive treatment plan primarily based on traditional Chinese medicine is adopted (oral administration and external application of traditional Chinese medicine, retention enema with traditional Chinese medicine, microwave, medium-frequency pulsed electrical therapy treatment, and traditional Chinese medicine wet compress treatment, etc.). The existing series of characteristic departmental preparations, “Penyan Enema,” can eliminate or significantly relieve patients’ suffering within a short period and improve quality of life and reproductive health.
3 Vulvar leukoplakia:
On the basis of comprehensively understanding the patient’s etiology, condition, and individual physical status, treatment is conducted according to syndrome differentiation based on the etiological characteristics of each patient. Oral traditional Chinese medicine is used to regulate the qi and blood of the whole body, local external washing and sitz baths are administered, and acupoints are selected for surrounding needling with micro-needles on the basis of syndrome differentiation, significantly improving systemic and local symptoms within a short period.
4 Polycystic ovary syndrome:
This disease is a syndrome characterized clinically by chronic anovulation, amenorrhea or infrequent menstruation, infertility, obesity, hirsutism, and polycystic enlargement of the ovaries. Polycystic ovary syndrome is highly harmful to women and, in severe cases, can lead to female infertility. Patients with the hyperinsulinemic obese type of polycystic ovary syndrome have a tendency to develop diabetes. Based on years of clinical experience, our department has established kidney-tonifying and phlegm-resolving, blood-activating and menstruation-regulating treatment as the principal therapeutic method. Combined with individual patient factors, traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and acupoint catgut embedding are used together for systemic regulation. In particular, for patients with infertility, this can significantly increase the pregnancy rate of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome.
5 Endometriosis:
For patients with endometriosis, our department has broken through traditional treatment methods. By integrating the four diagnostic methods and applying treatment according to syndrome differentiation, the disease is treated with a “four-in-one therapy” comprising oral traditional Chinese medicine decoctions, traditional Chinese medicine retention enemas, moxibustion with an intervening medium, and physical therapy. This has significant advantages in relieving patients’ pain, increasing patients’ pregnancy rates, and reducing postoperative recurrence rates.
6 Perimenopausal syndrome:
Also known as “menopausal syndrome,” in traditional Chinese medicine it is called “various disorders before and after menopause” or “various disorders before and after the cessation of menstruation.” It refers to a series of symptoms caused by fluctuations in or a decrease of sex hormones before and after menopause in women, characterized by dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. It is mainly manifested as dizziness, tinnitus, hot flushes and sweating, palpitations and insomnia, irritability and easy anger, hot flashes or edema of the face and lower limbs, poor appetite, loose stools or menstrual disorders, emotional restlessness, etc. Our department has distinctive approaches to regulating and treating this disease. During treatment, the underlying cause is sought through syndrome identification, both the root and branch are addressed, and particular emphasis is placed on regulating the spleen and stomach, benefiting the kidneys, and softening the liver. Oral traditional Chinese medicine is combined with acupuncture, and medication-based regulation is combined with psychological counseling. This can significantly improve patients’ clinical symptoms within 1 week, with good efficacy.
7 Recurrent spontaneous abortion:
The etiology of recurrent spontaneous abortion refers to a couple experiencing spontaneous abortions consecutively two times, or two or more times; it is a common pregnancy complication in clinical practice. For the different causes in patients, our department adopts integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine methods for symptomatic treatment, preconception regulation, and fetal preservation after pregnancy, significantly increasing the pregnancy success rate.
8 Gynecological tumors:
The treatment of uterine fibroids is one of the characteristic treatment areas of the Department of Gynecology II. For many years, our department has used Professor Li Hongmei’s empirical formulas to treat gynecological uterine fibroids, achieving significant efficacy; on the other hand, with regard to gynecological malignant tumors and precancerous lesions, research has been conducted on the prevention and treatment with traditional Chinese medicine. The reduction of toxicity and enhancement of efficacy after radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and surgery for gynecological malignant tumors, as well as improvement of patients’ quality of life, have also achieved considerable efficacy.
